I recently presented
on business planning… this made me think about my own experience.
When I started a
business in 2001 I did not have a thorough plan and I came into business under
a franchise model and thought the franchisor looked after these matters… I was naïve.
The franchise was called ‘Computer Accounting Doctor’; which was great nickname
material for friends – Doctor Digits etc.
Ideally you have a business plan from the
start that evolves; often we are busy and time poor and do not prioritise our
time for a business plan. We can find time to plan our holidays, coffee catch
up and lunches! You are going to spend a lot more time in and on your business
than on holidays and café’s… Your well considered business plan is the base and
foundation of your business that will make you the cash to continue holidaying
and the café lifestyle we love.
Spend time on the plan
and consider where and how you are going to get there in this important part of
your life. It does not have to be massive or a perfect plan to start with…it
never will be perfect, work on it and it will evolve.
