We can talk about the budget soon…
Digital disruption is and will continue to have a much larger affect on your business life and personal life! If you are in business you should be on the look out for how it will affect your business and how you can take up the opportunities to turn it into a positive.
Let’s first start with the definition of digital ‘disruption’.
It’s about innovating to break the ranks of status quo, redefining the norm, changing the markets and competitors around us. Some of this disruption is clearly a very positive change for society, business and economies. But if you are the firm being disrupted you may disagree… ask the management and investors in Kodak, MYOB, Nokia, Blackberry, General Motors, and the list goes on.
Over the years we have seen mainframes disrupted by minicomputers, which in turn were disrupted by PCs. Mobile technology has launched at a rapid rate, we don’t own software, we rent it and we don’t install software as it is in the Cloud. Now 3D printing knocks on the door to introduce another wave of change in health, manufacturing and other sectors. What about cars…
Numerous studies now tell us that autonomous cars will be commonplace by 2025 and will have a near monopoly by 2030! The sweeping change they bring will eclipse every other innovation our society has experienced. They will cause unprecedented job loss, a fundamental restructuring of our economy, solve large portions of our environmental problems, prevent tens of thousands of deaths per year, save millions of hours with increased productivity, and create entire new industries that we cannot even imagine from our current vantage point
Change never stops… maybe it is occurring faster and in sectors we did not expect it to. Disruption is happening all around us, there are many opportunities for us, and it is possible to deal with disruption and harness the growth potential it provides.
