David Jepsen, Principal

With over 25 years’ experience as a practicing CA, David is the Founder and Principal of RTO Accountants. David started his career at KPMG, moving onto mid tier accounting firms and commercial roles with Citigroup, Zurich, CBA and others in Sydney and London before setting up an accounting practice in 2001. Offering commercial and realistic advice, David believes the foundation for business success is built upon strong, trusted and lasting client partnerships.

David is commercially minded and works collaboratively with clients to develop strategies and solutions for complex business challenges. Having worked in accounting firms as well as public and private businesses, David has a breadth of experience in accounting, taxation, business advisory, financial control and CFO roles, ensuring his clients receive top-level, expert advice.

With extensive experience working with RTO’s and training businesses, David has been heavily involved in advising and negotiating the sale of training businesses including two in the last year and one into a listed vehicle.

A passionate Rugby fanatic, David played and had extensive involvement at both Randwick and Woollahra. While his playing days are behind him, he still loves and avidly follows the game. David also takes part in various other sporting pursuits, including yoga, running and competing in ocean kayak races.

Karen Jepsen

With over ten years experience in both public and private RTO’s Karen brings a wealth of knowledge from the RTO sector. Karen holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and has specific knowledge and skills in preparing training related materials, assisting in grant applications and providing guidance and support for process requirements. Karen is also a qualified TESOL Trainer and has experience working in CRICOS registered organisations.

Prior to joining RTO Accountants, Karen managed a large Civil Training organisation, with seven training sites across NSW. She brings to the team an understanding of the unique complexities of the VET sector.

Her expertise also lies in her ability to integrate cloud based apps into workflows to maximise productivity. She is an experienced administrator and and utilises these skills in her role as practice manager.

Living on the Gold Coast Karen enjoys anything to do with the water – swimming, kayaking paddle boarding. She enjoys time her family and friends and renovating her home.
